Horizon Ministry Network
Statement of Faith

  • God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. All things were made by Him. There is one God eternally existent in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are co-equal, co-eternal and are one God.

    Gen 1:1, 26-27, 3:22; Deut 6:4; Psalm 90:2; Matt 28:19; 1 Pet 1:2; 2 Cor 13:14

  • God the Father is infinite, personal, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love; He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; He hears and answers prayer; He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ. He is a loving Father to His children.

    Rom 11:33; Col 1:17; Prov 2:16, 3:19; Job 12:13; John 3:16; 1 John 4:16

  • Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus, though fully God, through the incarnation became fully human and lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

    Matt 1:22, 23; Isa 9:6; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Phil. 2:5-11 Heb 4:14,15; 1 Cor 15:3,4; Rom 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Tim 6:14, 15; Tit 2:13

  • The Holy Spirit is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every follower of Christ from the moment of salvation. He provides the follower daily with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, guidance in doing what is right and boldness to share his or her faith. He gives every believer different spiritual gifts when they are saved. As followers of Christ, we seek to live under His control daily. He is our comforter and teacher.

    2 Cor 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Cor 2:12, 3:16; Eph 1:13, 5:18; Gal 5:25; 2 Pet 1:3

  • The Bible is God’s written Word to us. Human individuals, under the supernatural leading of the Holy Spirit, wrote it. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because God inspired it, it is the truth without any mixture of error. There is no other book with equal authority.

    2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pet 1:20-21; 2 Tim 1:13; Psa 119:105,160, 12:6; Prov 30:5

  • People are the supreme object of God’s creation, and are made in the image of God. The Bible defines two distinct genders, male and female, and both bear the image of God. Both male and female persons are equal in value, yet have distinct roles in the contexts of family and church. God ordained family as the foundational institution of society, and marriage as the basis of family. God designed marriage to be a covenant with a man and a woman to God as a display of Christ’s union to His Church, as the exclusive channel of sexual intimacy, and as the means of procreation. Furthermore, any kind of sexual expression or gender identity or self-conception contrary to God’s design in Scripture is therefore sinful. Children, from the moment of conception, are distinct image-bearing human persons and are a blessing and heritage from the Lord.

    Gen 1:27-28, 2:7-8, 18-25; Lev 18:22; Psa 8:3-6; Rom 1:26-27; 1 Cor 6:9-10, 18-20, 11:1-3; Eph 5:25-33; Col 3:18-21; 1 Pet 3:7; 1 Tim 2:8-15, 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9, 2:1-10;

  • Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by sin. We have inherited our sin nature from Adam and Eve, and as a result of their sin, all creation has been corrupted to one degree or another. Therefore, people are by default sinful and guilty in need of forgiveness and regeneration in Christ. Without Christ, we are under the influence and power of Satan, tempted and enslaved to sin. Furthermore, we will need to pay for our sins in eternity in hell. Only faith in Jesus can ultimately free us from the penalty, power and presence of sin.

    Isa 53:6, 59:1, 2; Jer 17:9, John 3:17-20; Rom 3:10-11, 20-23, 7:18; 1 Cor 6:9-11; Eph 2:1-3; Col 2:13-15;

  • Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross as God’s offer of forgiveness, can we have an assurance of salvation and be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

    John 3:16, 14:6; Rom 6:23; Eph 2:8,9; 1:12; Titus 3:5 Gal 2:16, 3:26; Rom 5:1; 1 John 5:11-13

  • People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence for reward or punishment.

    John 3:16; John 14:17; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15; 1 Cor. 2:7-9

  • The universal church is a living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head, and all regenerated persons are members. There are many different denominations within the universal church who love Jesus Christ.

    Col 1:18; 1 Corinthians 12:12-31; Eph. 2:19-22, 4:11-13

CORE VALUES

  • Our identity as a ministry network is found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, according to the Bible. We believe in preserving, proclaiming, and living out the Gospel of Jesus is our primary objective as an organization.

    Rom 1:16-17; 1 Cor 15:1-22; Gal 1:6-12

  • Our focus for ministry is rooted in the local church, with the hope of seeing revival in the local church. We believe that the local church is the primary agent of advancing God’s mission, and the measure of God’s kingdom on earth.

    Acts 2:42-47; Heb 10:24-25; Rev 2:1-3:22

  • Our perspective for ministry extends beyond our personal contexts towards the goal of seeing all nations and tribes worshiping Jesus. We believe that God’s kingdom expands through new births in Christ and the multiplication of churches.

    Rev 7:9-17; John 4:7-26; Matt 28:19-20; Acts 1:8
